Makes ya wanna think.

Last paddle of the year

Ice is forming around the edge of Martel Lake so I took one last paddle. I love icebreaking in a canoe and today was perfect for it – thin ice and lots of open water.

Mika freaked at the crunch of breaking ice so she stayed onshore while Travis and I did one last circuit of the lake. Two bald eagles patrolled the shoreline.

At the end of our paddle I dragged the canoe from the lake and put away the paddles. In a month we’ll be hiking on lake ice.

Wow, Droog, these seasons come along with increasing rapidity. I was only admiring your photos from _last_ winter season recently. Tuck in, and prepare for hibernation. 😉

It’s hot here, damn hot … we’re still looking for south easterlies to head away from Trinidad. Maybe Monday.

Just wanted you to know that I do look in on you every now and then. Thanks for the wonderful blogs.

    Catchya later. xoxoxo Commandrix.
